Urban Orchid is a small floral boutique that just moved into Ohio City last year. I remember walking past it with my dog in the spring having no idea what the space was going to turn into, but now I love walking by and seeing the cute interior. This place has some really impressive and beautiful arrangements. I’m sure they were slammed due to Valentine’s Day earlier this week, and I hope they were, they do amazing work!

Here is a bouquet that I recently got. I hope I can get some more shots of this arrangement with some natural light as well.
I will be doing another posting shortly after this one of a different arrangement that I received in early September of last year.

Again – beautiful work by Urban Orchid!

If you are looking for a great breakfast / brunch / lunch spot, Lucky’s Cafe is one of the places in the Cleveland area that you have to go try. Located on Starweather in Tremont (right by Lilly’s Chocolate) Lucky’s has gained a great reputation, and was visited by Guy from the Food Network show, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

I’ve tried almost everything on their menu. The top two standouts for me are definitely the
Shipwreck, which is  a blend of hash browns, eggs, veggies, bacon, and cheddar cheese, served with house-baked como toast & fresh fruit, and
Baked Mac-N-Cheese, made with cheddar, brie, parmesan, and mozzarella cheeses, baked with pasta and cream topped with brioche bread crumbs and served with house-made apple sauce.

When I came in this past weekend, I tried the Omelette, which was also very good and had spinach, mushrooms, zucchini and white cheddar cheese, served with fresh local eggs, hash browns & zucchini bread. This meal typically comes with banana bread, but zucchini is just as awesome if you ask me. This is a good item to order for vegetarians as well.

I also wanted to note that not only is their food great, but their coffee drinks are also VERY good. There is a huge list of options of different types of coffees and drinks available. I stuck with regular, straight up bold coffee this time, which has an awesome, strong flavor. They also have by the register a section filled with pastries – cupcakes, scones, muffins, cakes, etc., which all are beautifully presented. Typically you see people leaving from eating with a to-go box with their pastries. So, this place is also a great option if you are just looking for a quick pick up of a coffee or pastry.

‘Hanging Out’ in California during the winter season is clearly much different than the midwest. Although, this winter has been pretty amazing and bizarre in comparison to the ridiculously harsh weather that we typically get…

So, this trip to Southern Tier Brewing happened a few months back in the fall. This has been my second trip to Southern Tier, and I hope to make it a yearly thing. They have tours at 1, 3, and 5 PM on Saturdays. If you plan on going, you probably want to make sure you get there early to make sure you get a spot. Anyways, to take the tour  costs 8 dollars; well worth the money. You get a glass to keep, as well as a variety of samples. During the tour they talk about the process of making beer, and give a little history on the Brewery and how far they have come along.

When I went in 2010, it was during the winter and they had Choklat as one of the seasonals to sample. It was the first time I had ever had it and I was floored. Seriously. For the rest of the night I just talked about how amazing this beer was. However, I’d have to say that Pumpking is my all time favorite of Southern Tier’s, and probably one of the best beers I’ve ever had. When I went this time in the fall of 2011, they had it on tap and it was fantastic. To top it off, it was absolutely beautiful out and we were able to sit out on the benches and had a great time with perfect weather.
